This project was a special one for sure! This bathroom features a curbless shower and amazing black slate in a Versailles tile layout. This sort of tile is sold in bundles with all the different sizes already mixed in. It’s a little tricky to install, but makes quite a statement. It is a smaller room, so we tiled the entire space and sloped the floor toward the Schluter Kerdiline drain against the shower wall.
This particular linear drain is cool because the grate is tileable. Instead of having a metal cover, it can be tiled to match the flooring and blend in. This one is particularly hard to see unless you are looking for it. Very cool.
Because it’s a smaller room, my clients wanted to get a larger shower by having a smaller sink. They found this sink at Ikea, I believe. I found one online called “Tenefly 18”. It’s wall mounted and not big. To compensate for the lack of counter space, I installed a wide niche recessed into the wall behind the sink so they’d have some extra storage space.
You don’t see it, but this room also includes heating elements under the tile floor! I like to use a product called Ditraheat for this, and they have recently come out with a very user friendly touch screen programmable thermostat. Of course, they also have a wifi option for you smart house people.
We squeezed a lot into a small space with this bathroom making it both striking and functional! My clients love it! (I love hearing that!)
