“Peter Bales did a complete bathroom remodel for us this spring.  He completely gutted our old bathroom and managed to double the floor space for us by reconfiguring the floorplan of the area outside of the bathroom.  The old bathroom was incredibly tiny, dingy, and outdated.  He put in a beautiful tile shower, new lighting, new exhaust, a new vanity and cabinet, floor tile, painted, even installed the towel bars and hooks for us!

Peter made the entire process very painless!  He was very helpful and patient as this was our first bathroom remodel.  He met with us initially to come up with a proposal.  He then met with us two more times as we changed our minds and had more questions for him!  He never made us feel like we were being silly or wasting his time.  He helped us decide where it made the most sense to spend our money and was very practical with things.  I never felt like he was trying to get me to spend more or stretch our budget to the limits.  One example was when we talked about shower doors.  When I mentioned our hard water, he agreed that not installing a glass door made sense as it would be very hard to keep clean.  Since he knew were going to do a curtain instead, he made sure to do a tile design in the shower that had the accent stripe high enough to be seen above the curtain.  Little things like that were nice for us – he knew what he was doing and knew what made sense – lots of things that I never would have thought about!   Emails were always answered promptly, too.  When he got started, he kept his materials neat and organized at the end of each day.  He often gave us emailed updates as we were not usually able to be home before he left for the evening.  He finished everything on time and on budget.  Peter is a very polite and honest person and we felt very comfortable with him working in our home.  I would highly recommend him!” -Sarah L, Spencer, IN

“We were new to the area and needed to find a good tile mason to help us upgrade a master bath and kitchen. The contractor we hired to gut the bathroom and install the cabinets recommended Peter Bales. Peter responded to our call, came for a visit and was hired for the job(s).

We soon discovered that he is much more than tile mason. Before we had opportunity to see his work as such, we got to witness his prowess as carpenter, plumber and electrician. He built the shower, installed the automatic exhaust fan, switches and necessary wiring, made the plumbing changes required, reinforced a wall for the heavy glass shower door and replaced and finished the drywall as well as doing all the tile work. We were beginning to wonder, and still do, if there isn’t anything he CAN’T do. And do well! He did all this on time, within budget and without complaint. He did more than the original plan called for in stride with a smile on his face.

“My wife and I started renovating our kitchen this past spring and have utilized several contractors for the various tasks (countertop, flooring, overhead vent hood, tile backsplash and new appliances). We waited on the backsplash for the last task and after a somewhat unpleasant experience with the flooring contractor, we wanted a contractor who would do a superb job on the backsplash because it would be a focal point. We live in a rural area where there are plenty of general contractors, but we wanted someone who specialized in tile backsplashes. Peter assessed our project and offered a few suggestions to our layout. We found him to be very professional and courteous. He provided a verbal quote that evening that was followed by an emailed written agreement. The quote was reasonable, and knowing that this was Peter’s specialty, plus reviews by other clients, we decided to proceed and have Peter do the project. A date was set for the installation.

It was clear to me from the start that he was very knowledgeable of his trade. Before setting any tile he took extensive measurements to map the layout and utilized a laser level during then entire project. Peter is very meticulous about his work which is reflected in his finished product. The project was accomplished in the estimated three days. My wife and I couldn’t be more pleased with the backsplash. We have received several compliments on the kitchen and especially the backsplash. We highly recommend Peter Bales as a tile contractor. “We had smelly carpet in our kitchen (previous owners had dogs) so we tore the carpet up and Peter laid tile.
