I thought I’d post some before and after photos from my Eastside Bungalow project in East Nashville. My wife and I thought it would be fun to buy a fixer-upper to re-do. Anybody relate? The home was in pretty bad shape when we bought it so we moved into the living room while we renovated the upstairs. This was about the time that my son was born, adding to the fun.
We later moved upstairs and started working downstairs. It took a while to make progress, but it was awesome to finally see things coming together.
The living room and dining rooms mainly needed paint and floor refinishing, but I also ended up totally redoing the fireplace with a new tile hearth and surround. I bought the tile at an overstock sale and had some interesting pieces that had to put together to come up with this design.
My favorite part of the dining room has to be that light fixture. I actually bought it online a couple years before being ready to install. I guess the anticipation was built up quite a bit. I wasn’t disappointed. We actually chose a brown exterior accent color to match this fixture that we also used on the fireplace and exterior doors.
Now, I’ve moved on to renovating homes for other people. It’s nice to not be living in the construction zone any more and I’m sure my wife would heartily agree…
