I’m always curious about places to find great tile for less money.  After a friend was raving about the cool tile he found at this place in Madison I had to check it out.  It’s called Super Home Surplus.  It’s across from the Rivergate Mall on Myatt Drive.

As their name implies they have a lot more than just tile.  I’m guessing that most of the items were from other companies selling off their overstock items, etc.   The tile department was quite large and had some interesting pieces that you don’t see very often.

My friend, who is a little crazy, bought some huge 24″ x 24″ tiles to install in his kitchen.  I was very interested in the 12″ x 24″ tiles that looked like huge subway tiles.  Most of these tiles were around $1 a square foot- great for something that doesn’t look like cheap tile.  It may make a great surround for a bath project I have coming up.

In addition to the tile, they had a wide selection of laminate flooring as well as quite a few choices of cabinets and vanities.  I was surprised by how many different styles of laminate countertops that they had, probably more than Lowe’s or Home Depot.  They also had a few aisles of ‘open-box’ faucets from great brands like Kohler and Moen.  Sure, they were probably half of retail, but that often doesn’t mean they are cheap, right?  This isn’t Goodwill…  :)

I’d compare it to a similar store in Nashville called Southeastern Salvage, but Super Home Surplus seemed to have higher quality stuff and much more variety when it comes to building fixtures and materials.  I’m definitely going to be telling my clients to check this place out before they pay retail prices or special order something.  You never know what you’ll find here.

The place is definitely worth the trip to Rivergate.
