Tile can be a beautiful addition to your home, but there are also practical reasons to consider tile as a flooring choice. For example, at this project, my clients were starting to renovate their basement after some water damage from the flooding last year. They had just enough water to ruin the carpet, but otherwise they made out pretty well.
Built on a hill, they often park in the back and come into the house through the basement to get upstairs. This pathway gets a lot of use, including wet feet that come in from outside.
They called me to tile about a 4-foot-wide path along that wall that get’s the most traffic, including the landing at the bottom of the stairs. The rest of the room will likely get recarpeted. Not only does the tile hold up great, it will also help their basement feel more ‘finished’ like the rest of their home.
