Since we moved to Indiana about three weeks ago, I’ve been out meeting as many people as I can and looking for the local tile resources.  I think I found a good one today at Owen Valley Flooring.  Like many flooring stores, their largest inventory is carpet, however, I was surprised at how many tile products they have.  I met Ann, the Owner, and got a personal tour of many of their products and displays.

The store is located just north of Spencer on state road 67 in Owen County, Indiana.  In addition to the typical displays with all the various tile that you can special order, they actually had quite a few in stock.  It sounds like they enjoy buying up various discontinued or closeout tiles in addition to their retail offerings.  This means that instead of paying over $10 a piece for a decorative border tile, you may find it here for under $2!  They had a wide range of sizes and colors to choose from.

I was also surprised to see that they stocked cementboard, mortars and quite a few grout colors, include grout caulk!  Very convenient to have all of this at one place in Owen County.

If you stop in, make sure you visit at least one of the bathrooms.  They have taken each bathroom and made them a showplace for many cool tiles, including a shower in the warehouse bathroom.  It looks like they really ‘get’ tile and have a love for helping you come up with a great design.  I highly recommend that you check them out if you’re in the area.
